Compare your sim laps to the laps you actually drove
If you have done a few hundred laps of a track in Assetto Corsa and then you finally book a real track day there, the interesting question is where the real car and the sim actually diverge. VlastLap Desktop lets you put the two laps side by side and look, instead of guessing.
How it works
- Record a lap in the sim. VlastLap Desktop reads the telemetry from your simulator.
- Record a real lap with the phone app, which runs GPS and the phone's motion sensors together at 100 Hz.
- Put the two laps on top of each other and read the delta corner by corner.
What you can actually compare
From the phone you get the things that decide where a lap is won or lost on the line. You can watch the time delta open up or come back at each corner, line the speed traces up to find the corner where you lost it, look at the g-g diagram, and check where you started braking against where you brake in the sim.
Here is the honest limit. The phone measures where you brake, not how hard, because it reads GPS and motion rather than the pedals, so you will not get a real throttle or brake trace to lay over the sim yet. That comes with the VlastLap hardware and its OBD connection, which is on the roadmap. On the sim side you already have the full pedal and steering inputs today.
Which simulators
VlastLap Desktop works with your preferred simulator, from Assetto Corsa, ACC and Project CARS to Automobilista, iRacing and rFactor, with more on the way. The real laps come from the VlastLap app on iOS and Android.
Who this is for
This is for the sim racer who is starting to do real track days, and for the track driver who practises at home during the week, both of whom want to see the gap between the two instead of guessing at it. If you never open a simulator and only care about your times at the track, this side of VlastLap is not the reason to get it, though the rest still is. Putting your sim lap and your real lap in the same place, corner for corner, is the part VlastLap is built around.
